GOAT (Greatest of All Time), starring Thalapathy Vijay, saw a stellar opening day, but Day 2 brought a noticeable drop in its box office collections. Released just days ago, the film has been one of the most anticipated projects of the year, with fans eagerly flocking to theatres to catch Vijay in action. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, GOAT had a promising start, but Day 2's performance left some disappointment.
After a strong debut on its opening day, the film's earnings dipped compared to its Thursday release, likely due to it being a weekend. Despite the drop, Vijay's fanbase remains optimistic, hoping the film will recover during the weekend.
Today, Day 3, was a crucial one for the movie. Weekends are often make-or-break for films, and GOAT was expected to gain momentum with Saturday and Sunday's crowd. Advance bookings for the weekend have been solid, and theatres across Tamil Nadu and other regions were busy, which helped GOAT bounce back from its Day 2 slump. As reported by the Sacnilk entertainment news portal, on its third day, Vijay's movie earned over Rs 34.37 crore at the box office in India, in all languages. It's almost 10 crore less than the first day. Even though Goat box office collection day 3 is better than the second day, the difference between the numbers from its day 1 and day 3 collection is quite drastic.
One wonders, if the numbers are good enough for the movie to recover its massive budget of Rs 400 crores. It would be interesting to see how much it earns on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the movie also generated extra excitement with hints of a possible sequel, which has motivated fans to watch it and stay on top of the story. In the end, Thalapathy Vijay is passes on the baton to actor Sivakarthikeyan and we see the title 'Goat Vs OG'. However, director Venkat Prabhu has not yet confirmed if there will be a sequel or not. Considering this is Vijay's second last film before he joins politics.
In the movie, we see several references and even tributes to popular celebrities like Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajith Kumar, Tom Cruise, and even Indian cricketer MS Dhoni. The Thalapathy Vijay starrer also stars Prabhu Deva, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sneha, Jayaram, Premgi, and several others. In an interview earlier, director Venkat Prabhu stated that this movie is like a farewell from his side for Vijay and his fans.
