In an interview, Mohsin said that nobody knows that there was an elder brother of Kartik Goenka in the show. He said that his first mock shoot was with Naira and Kartik's elder brother. Mohsin further added that the first mock shoot was with Naira and Kartik's elder brother. He was told about both the characters - Kartik was cute and bubbly while his elder brother was a strict man who hated his father and had returned from abroad. The actor even said that when he got a call from Yeh Rishta's team and they insisted on him giving a mock shoot as Kartik's older brother too. Mohsin said that he wanted to play Kartik's role irrespective of whether he would be the lead or not. He said that later the makers of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai scrapped the elder brother's part from the script and the story was focused on Kartik and Naira. Mohsin revealed how he got the role of Kartik. He said that after completing Dream Girl shoot he chopped off his hair quite short. He said that the team of Yeh Rishta was still taking auditions, but he felt he should not go with short hair. Post four to five months, they were still auditioning and that was the time when he went for the mokshoot and met Rajan Sir.
Kartik's character will always be special to Mohsin. His on-screen chemistry with Shivangi Joshi aka Naira made audiences fall for them. Their love story is still cherished by all their fans.
